AP Gov Update for January 3-12

Happy New Year!!! Mr. Zukowski will not be at the school until Tuesday, January 9. Grades will be finalized on Tuesday, January 2nd. There will be some changes this semester.  First of all, has to do with Current Events, the second half of the alphabet will be first in the rotation to turn in assignments. Also this semester, we will be using iPads in the classroom.   You will be using the iPads assigned to you on regular basis.   It is important that you read and follow through with the "Mr. Zukowski's Internet Resources" portion of this page (at the bottom). If you are interested in up to 50 extra credit points, you can watch a movie The Post to be shown in local theaters starting January 12.  You will need to turn in the ticket stub and write a one-page hand-written review about the background of the story, the results of the movie, and what kind of implications it has for government and politics in America's society today.  You will ne...

AP Gov Update for December 18-19

There will be a PIPS quiz on Monday and then finish the last section of notes for chapter 7.  Chapter 7 Packet will be turned in on Monday.  There will be no class on Tuesday due to the Christmas assembly. The essay portion of the semester exam will be scored by Tuesday.  If you have any assignments to turn in, please turn them in by Thursday. Make sure you have access to Edmodo.com when we return from Christmas break.  Have a great Christmas break!

AP Gov Update for the week of November 13-17

***All students will be turning in Current Events on Monday, November 13. *** Starting in December, Edmodo will be used in AP Gov class.  There will be time devoted to class this week to sign up for it.  Do not sign up ahead of time.  You will be using your school Office 365 account to link to Edmodo. Monday: Total Recall Question - will be on Thursday of last week's paper. We will be finishing the PowerPoints.  Remember there are score deductions for errors within the PowerPoint. We will finally start on 5-3 notes about discrimination of other minority groups. Tuesday: Total Recall Question - will be on Friday of last week's paper.  If you already crossed it out, you can attach it to a paper and staple it before you turn it in. AP Gov Update for November 6-10

***The Second Half of the alphabet will be required to turn in Current Events on Monday. ***If you have any work from the second grading period, please turn it in by Tuesday morning.  Monday & Tuesday:  Groups will be working on the PowerPoints.  You must make sure you are polished and know what you are talking about!  You are to be the experts on the topic! Wednesday:  Presentation of PowerPoints.  Assignment of Current Events for the next grading period.  All students will be required to turn in Current Events next Monday.  Read pages 165-170 for Thursday. Thursday:  Rights of Minority groups in America. Friday:  No School in observance of Veterans Day.

AP Gov Update October 30 to November 3

**Current Events will be due Tuesday this week.  The first half of the alphabet needs to turn them in. Here is the schedule for the week: Monday:  Representatives from BB&T Bank will return for the second time.    Read pages 158 to 165 for Tuesday.  Tuesday:  We will finish 5-1 notes from Friday and start 5-2 notes.  The topic for 5-2 is about the treatment of African-Americans through American history.  Wednesday:  We will continue 5-2 notes on Wednesday. Thursday:  Magistrate Bolton will speak to the class about civil liberties.  Friday:  There will be a vocabulary quiz for chapters 1 through 5.  We will start working on a project that looks at background documents for Dredd Scott, Plessy, and Brown.

AP Gov Update for October 9-13

Also, the second half of the alphabet is to turn in Current Events on Monday at the beginning of class. Monday: Turn in Total Recall paper from last week.   PIPS Quiz.  This will be a multiple choice quiz of 20 figures in public service.  Go to the  Quizlet site  to practice prior to the quiz.   Current Events (second half of the alphabet, Grading Period 2, CE#1). Also, Mr. Zukowski will be passing out "Student Release" forms to get permission from students and parents to video record some lessons in the classroom during the school year.  Mr. Zukowski is working towards certification for National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.     Here is more information about the certification process . AP Gov Update for October 2-6

Here is an update from the counselors: Reminder to All GHS Parents: Parent Teacher Conferences  will be held next week on  October 5th from 4 - 6 pm . If you would like to come speak to one or all several of your student's teachers, please feel free to attend. Counselors will also be available!  Parents of GHS Seniors:  October 9th  we will hold the  FAFSA sign up night  in the 1st floor computer lab from 6 - 8 pm. If your student plans to attend college after graduation, we highly encourage you to attend this sign up night. If you believe your student will be scholarship eligible, it is mandatory that they fill out the FAFSA by March 1st along with the PROMISE application in order to even be considered eligible.
