AP Gov Update for October 2-6

Here is an update from the counselors:
Reminder to All GHS Parents:
Parent Teacher Conferences will be held next week on October 5th from 4 - 6 pm. If you would like to come speak to one or all several of your student's teachers, please feel free to attend. Counselors will also be available! 
Parents of GHS Seniors: 
October 9th we will hold the FAFSA sign up night in the 1st floor computer lab from 6 - 8 pm. If your student plans to attend college after graduation, we highly encourage you to attend this sign up night. If you believe your student will be scholarship eligible, it is mandatory that they fill out the FAFSA by March 1st along with the PROMISE application in order to even be considered eligible. Please come with your most recent tax information!

The first half of the alphabet will turn in Current Events (Grading Period 2, CE #1) on Monday.

Here is the schedule for the week:

Monday:

  • Read pages 104-109 prior to class
  • Students will be working on a Tissue Box project on Tuesday.  The criteria will be given criteria and topics.  You will need to bring a tissue box in class.  It can be a square or rectangular box.  
  • Essential Question notes 4-1:  How does the Bill of Rights link the states?


Tuesday:

  • Work on Landmark Court Case tissue box project.
  • Read pages 109 to 116 for Wednesday.


Wednesday:

  • Essential Question Notes 4-2:  What is the Freedom of Religion?
  • Read pages 116-126 for Thursday


Thursday:

  • Essential question Notes 4-3:  How is the Freedom of Expression protected?


Friday:  

  • Turn in Total Recall Questions
  • We will meet in the downstairs computer lab.
  • PIPS Quiz on Monday.

Last Hoorah before the AP GOV Exam!

This is the last hoorah before the AP American Government and Politics Exam.  You all have been preparing for this exam all year and I wish you the best tomorrow.  If you need any last-minute pointers, let me know and I'll give you advice. You will need to log on using your exam ticket at about 3:30 on Monday, May 11.  You will need to log into a demo exam to check and see if your device is compatible.  The exam will start at 4:00 p.m. and will ultimately be over by 4:50. I have posted a video to tell you all "Hoorah" and best wishes on the exam. I do not have any assignments for you this week.  But I hope you take the time to turn in some things and include your reply to the Flipgrid video .  I would like to see your face and hear your voice. This was supposed to be your last week as a senior in school, and I truly miss this annual ritual.  It should have been a once in a lifetime ritual for you.  Let me know if there is anything I can do...

Social Studies Fair Information

This is information about the Social Studies Fair: Wednesday, January 30 from 4:00 - 6:30. Set up starts in the Taylor County Middle School library at 3:30. Please bring your presentation board and abstract with you. Mr. Zukowski will not be at school on Tuesday, but you can message him on Tuesday if you have questions.   If you need transportation to the school, let Mr. Zukowski know. There is a snow day or Ice Pack day, further instructions will come. If you are not able to attend due to practice/game/competition or work, let Mr. Zukowski know in class on Monday.
