AP Gov Update for September 10-14

As we move closer to Constitution Day, we are going to move from the origins of the Constitution to the role that federalism plays in our state and national governments.

We are currently watching the process of a Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, go through Senate Judiciary hearings.  CNN aired a documentary last Monday about a veteran Associate Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and it will re-air the documentary Sunday night at 8 p.m.  It focuses on her early life to the present. 

We will start a new cycle of current events this week.  The first half of the alphabet will turn in on Monday.  It will be Grading Period 1 and CE#2.  When you are to describe quantitative information, describe measurable information.

Here is the agenda for the week:

Monday:

  • New Preamble for the week.
  • We will have a PIPS practice activity.  Be sure to log onto the class Quizlet to practice for the PIPS.  
  • There will be a vocabulary quiz (20 multiple choices) in chapter 1 and 2.  You can also practice for these on Quizlet.
  • Work on Chapter 2 study guide.


Tuesday:

  • Preamble.
  • September PIPS Quiz.
  • Discussion on 9/11 anniversary.
  • Finish study guide.


Wednesday:

  • Preamble.
  • Essential Question quiz.
  • Writing activity related to chapter 2 content


Thursday:

  • Preamble.
  • Turn in Chapter 2 packet
    • Chapter 2 Chapter
  • Chapter 3 Vocabulary.
  • Read pages 72 to 83 for Friday.


Friday:

  • Turn in weekly Preamble
  • EQ Notes 3-1:  What is the constitutional foundation for federalism?

Last Hoorah before the AP GOV Exam!

This is the last hoorah before the AP American Government and Politics Exam.  You all have been preparing for this exam all year and I wish you the best tomorrow.  If you need any last-minute pointers, let me know and I'll give you advice. You will need to log on using your exam ticket at about 3:30 on Monday, May 11.  You will need to log into a demo exam to check and see if your device is compatible.  The exam will start at 4:00 p.m. and will ultimately be over by 4:50. I have posted a video to tell you all "Hoorah" and best wishes on the exam. I do not have any assignments for you this week.  But I hope you take the time to turn in some things and include your reply to the Flipgrid video .  I would like to see your face and hear your voice. This was supposed to be your last week as a senior in school, and I truly miss this annual ritual.  It should have been a once in a lifetime ritual for you.  Let me know if there is anything I can do...

Social Studies Fair Information

This is information about the Social Studies Fair: Wednesday, January 30 from 4:00 - 6:30. Set up starts in the Taylor County Middle School library at 3:30. Please bring your presentation board and abstract with you. Mr. Zukowski will not be at school on Tuesday, but you can message him on Tuesday if you have questions.   If you need transportation to the school, let Mr. Zukowski know. There is a snow day or Ice Pack day, further instructions will come. If you are not able to attend due to practice/game/competition or work, let Mr. Zukowski know in class on Monday.
