AP Gov Update for the opening week of school!

Welcome back to Grafton High School!  I am sure everyone is thrilled for their senior year!

I usually send weekly updates in this format through Remind, LiveGrades, and student email accounts each week.  Be sure to check this to get an idea what we are doing for the week.  The agenda may change as the week goes on.

I just want to update everyone about what we are going to do this week.

Wednesday:

  • Turn in Constitution Study Guide
  • Class procedures

Thursday:

  • Citizenship test.  I give this test each year at the beginning and end of the school year.  This is the same type of test immigrants would have to take to become naturalized U.S. citizens and pass with 80% success.  But this test is multiple choice, while they have to write in answers.  This is a baseline test and it shows me where you are starting at in class.

Friday:

  • You will recieve your textbook and we will check them out in the library.
  • You will also take a PIPS quiz.  PIPS stands for People In Public Service.  This shows me who you know that serves in public office at the local, state, and national level.  This is given several times a year and changes in regards to elections or appointments of officials.  



Those students who did not do or turn in the summer assignments will have to have change to Civics or take a significantly reduced grade on the summer assignment (persuant to agreement last school year).

Last Hoorah before the AP GOV Exam!

This is the last hoorah before the AP American Government and Politics Exam.  You all have been preparing for this exam all year and I wish you the best tomorrow.  If you need any last-minute pointers, let me know and I'll give you advice. You will need to log on using your exam ticket at about 3:30 on Monday, May 11.  You will need to log into a demo exam to check and see if your device is compatible.  The exam will start at 4:00 p.m. and will ultimately be over by 4:50. I have posted a video to tell you all "Hoorah" and best wishes on the exam. I do not have any assignments for you this week.  But I hope you take the time to turn in some things and include your reply to the Flipgrid video .  I would like to see your face and hear your voice. This was supposed to be your last week as a senior in school, and I truly miss this annual ritual.  It should have been a once in a lifetime ritual for you.  Let me know if there is anything I can do...

Social Studies Fair Information

This is information about the Social Studies Fair: Wednesday, January 30 from 4:00 - 6:30. Set up starts in the Taylor County Middle School library at 3:30. Please bring your presentation board and abstract with you. Mr. Zukowski will not be at school on Tuesday, but you can message him on Tuesday if you have questions.   If you need transportation to the school, let Mr. Zukowski know. There is a snow day or Ice Pack day, further instructions will come. If you are not able to attend due to practice/game/competition or work, let Mr. Zukowski know in class on Monday.
