AP Gov Update for March 18-22

We've had a bit of excitement the past couple weeks at GHS.  We are going to get back on regular schedule this week with our activities.

Here is the agenda for the week:

Monday:

  • Preamble
  • Bring AMSCO Books
  • Review FRQs from last week
  • Introduce Civil Rights and complete to Civil Liberties
  • Read pages 152 to 157 for Tuesday (yellow books)


Tuesday:

  • Preamble
  • Chapter 5 study guide will be distributed
  • EQ Notes 5-1:  What has America done to achieve equality?


Wednesday:

  • Preamble
  • We will complete an activity about Civil Rights history/discussion (this will be recorded)
  • Read pages 158 to 165 for Thursday


Thursday:

  • Preamble
  • EQ Notes 5-2:  What was the treatment of African-Americans in American history?
  • Bring AMSCO books for Friday.  Read pages 300 to 319.


Friday: 

  • Preamble - Turn in
  • Civil rights discussion from AMSCO book – 13th, 14th, 15th Amendments, Plessy v. Ferguson, NAACP, Brown v. Board of Education, Policy and Citizen-State Interaction, Letter from Birmingham Jail, Civil Rights Act of 1964

Last Hoorah before the AP GOV Exam!

This is the last hoorah before the AP American Government and Politics Exam.  You all have been preparing for this exam all year and I wish you the best tomorrow.  If you need any last-minute pointers, let me know and I'll give you advice. You will need to log on using your exam ticket at about 3:30 on Monday, May 11.  You will need to log into a demo exam to check and see if your device is compatible.  The exam will start at 4:00 p.m. and will ultimately be over by 4:50. I have posted a video to tell you all "Hoorah" and best wishes on the exam. I do not have any assignments for you this week.  But I hope you take the time to turn in some things and include your reply to the Flipgrid video .  I would like to see your face and hear your voice. This was supposed to be your last week as a senior in school, and I truly miss this annual ritual.  It should have been a once in a lifetime ritual for you.  Let me know if there is anything I can do...

Social Studies Fair Information

This is information about the Social Studies Fair: Wednesday, January 30 from 4:00 - 6:30. Set up starts in the Taylor County Middle School library at 3:30. Please bring your presentation board and abstract with you. Mr. Zukowski will not be at school on Tuesday, but you can message him on Tuesday if you have questions.   If you need transportation to the school, let Mr. Zukowski know. There is a snow day or Ice Pack day, further instructions will come. If you are not able to attend due to practice/game/competition or work, let Mr. Zukowski know in class on Monday.
