AP Gov Update for February 25 to March 1\


  • Khan Academy assignments on the court system are due by Thursday night at 11:59.  Be sure they are finished.
  • Current Events for the first half of the alphabet is due on Monday.  This will be Grading Period 5, CE#1.

Here is the agenda for the week:

Monday:

  • Review of Civil and Criminal Courts
  • Finish 5-1 Notes
  • Examine the structure of the federal court system
  • Read pages 516 to 521 for Tuesday

Tuesday:
  • Preamble
  • EQ Notes 5-2:  How are Federal Judges and Justices selected?
  • Read pages 521 to 525 for Wednesday

Wednesday:
  • Preamble
  • EQ Notes 5-3:  What are the backgrounds of the Supreme Court Justices?

Thursday:
  • Preamble
  • Characteristics of Justices activity
  • Complete Khan Academy assignments by tonight.

Friday:
  • Preamble (turn in)
  • Crash Course Videos - watch on your device or on class iPads.  Please bring earbuds to listen.

Last Hoorah before the AP GOV Exam!

This is the last hoorah before the AP American Government and Politics Exam.  You all have been preparing for this exam all year and I wish you the best tomorrow.  If you need any last-minute pointers, let me know and I'll give you advice. You will need to log on using your exam ticket at about 3:30 on Monday, May 11.  You will need to log into a demo exam to check and see if your device is compatible.  The exam will start at 4:00 p.m. and will ultimately be over by 4:50. AP Gov Assignments for April 13-17

Information about "Absentee" voting for the West Virginia Primary Election: Recently, Governor Justice announced that the primary election has been moved to June 9 due to COVID-19 and has worked with the WV Secretary of State's office to expand absentee voting so voters do not have to risk going to voting precincts.  Traditionally, absentee voting is usually limited to those would be out of the area during the early election or regular election time. All registered voters should have received from the county clerk's office a request in the mail.  If you fill this out and mail it by June 3, you should receive the absentee ballot in the mail and then mail it back to the county clerk's office.   Contact the county clerk's office at 304-265-1401 or taylorcounty@wvsos.com to contact the Taylor County Clerk. AP Gov Update for September 24-28

There will be a Voter Registration Drive during lunches on Tuesday, September 25, in front of the cafeteria.  If you are eligible to vote in November, you can check your status and even register to vote. The first six weeks grading period ends on Wednesday.  If you are missing any assignments from the first six weeks, you need to get organized and turn everything in by Thursday morning as grades have to be turned in on Friday morning.  Do not delay! The first half of the alphabet will be turning Current Events on Monday.  This will be Grading pEriod 1, CE#3.
