AP Gov update for November 26-30

As we approach the last week of November, we are finishing elections and voting.  You will need to make sure you finish your AMSCO essays by Monday evening.

Here is the agenda for the week (Bring AMSCO books for Preambles Tuesday through Friday):

Monday:

  • The first half of the alphabet will turn in Current Events (Grading Period 3, CE#2)
  • Preamble
  • Read pages 301 to 306 prior to class
  • We are going to discuss Campaign Finance Reform
  • Be sure to submit three essays from the AMSCO book by email.



Tuesday:

  • Preamble
  • Campaign Finance Activity
  • Read pages 307 to 313 for Wednesday.




Wednesday:

  • Preamble
  • Discussion on suffrage and why people vote
  • REad pages 313 to 324 for Thursday.



Thursday:

  • Preamble
  • The conclusion to voting and elections chapter.



Friday:

  • Turn in Preamble
  • Complete study guide
  • Prepare chapter packet to turn in on Monday.
  • Chapter test on Monday.  



Extra Credit Opportunities:
This is an open-ended extra credit opportunity to watch movies that have themes related to government/politics or civil liberties/civil rights.  You will need to view the movie and write a review on the "Movie Review" document on the class OneDrive folder named "Extra Credit".   You will need to include the ticket stub from the theater you viewed the movie and turn in the document to Mr. Zukowski.  Digital submissions of this activity will not be accepted.  You will write the view in your own words.  You can submit any or all reviews up to 50 points extra credit each.
There are currently or soon will be three movies that you can view.  It will be up to you to find when and where movies are playing.
The current movies are:
  Green Book (Civil Right/Civil Liberties)
The FrontRunner (Government/Politics)
Vice (Government/Politics)
On the Basis of Sex (Government/Politics)

Last Hoorah before the AP GOV Exam!

This is the last hoorah before the AP American Government and Politics Exam.  You all have been preparing for this exam all year and I wish you the best tomorrow.  If you need any last-minute pointers, let me know and I'll give you advice. You will need to log on using your exam ticket at about 3:30 on Monday, May 11.  You will need to log into a demo exam to check and see if your device is compatible.  The exam will start at 4:00 p.m. and will ultimately be over by 4:50. I have posted a video to tell you all "Hoorah" and best wishes on the exam. I do not have any assignments for you this week.  But I hope you take the time to turn in some things and include your reply to the Flipgrid video .  I would like to see your face and hear your voice. This was supposed to be your last week as a senior in school, and I truly miss this annual ritual.  It should have been a once in a lifetime ritual for you.  Let me know if there is anything I can do...

Social Studies Fair Information

This is information about the Social Studies Fair: Wednesday, January 30 from 4:00 - 6:30. Set up starts in the Taylor County Middle School library at 3:30. Please bring your presentation board and abstract with you. Mr. Zukowski will not be at school on Tuesday, but you can message him on Tuesday if you have questions.   If you need transportation to the school, let Mr. Zukowski know. There is a snow day or Ice Pack day, further instructions will come. If you are not able to attend due to practice/game/competition or work, let Mr. Zukowski know in class on Monday.
