AP Gov Update for January 29 through February 2

***First half of the alphabet will turn in Current Events (Grading Period 4, Current Events #2).
***The State of the Union Address will take place on Tuesday, January 30, at 9:00 p.m.  This is a constitutional requirement of the president.  An activity to receive 30 extra credit points, you may choose to complete "State of the Union 2018 BINGO."  You can pick these up in the class on Monday and Tuesday.  When you watch the address, you will note the time President Trump made that comment.  This will be due on Wednesday when you come to class.
***AP Students:  This week you will need to place a deposit on the AP test(s) you are taking in May.  See Mrs. Bartlett will your funds.  Make checks payable to Grafton High School.


Here is the schedule for the week

Monday:

  • Total Recall
  • Current Events
  • Finish Political Party website activity on the iPads
  • Teacher will review FRQ from Friday with each student


Tuesday:

  • Turn in Chapter 8 packet
  • Chapter 8 test
  • Start chapter 11 vocabulary
  • Read pages 358 to 364 for Wednesday


Wednesday:

  • Obtain Chapter 11 Study Guide/choices
  • Crash Course Video #2 - Bicameral Congress and notes
  • EQ 11-1 Notes on the Demographics of Congress 
  • Read pages 364 to 369 for Thursday


Thursday:

  • Turn in Total Recall
  • Crash Course Video #6 Congressional Elections and notes.
  • EQ 11-2 Notes on Cognressional Elections


Friday:  Senior Activities - College or workplace visit, SAT test, or reward

Monday:
  • Chapter 11 Vocabulary Check
  • iPad research on members of Congress

Last Hoorah before the AP GOV Exam!

This is the last hoorah before the AP American Government and Politics Exam.  You all have been preparing for this exam all year and I wish you the best tomorrow.  If you need any last-minute pointers, let me know and I'll give you advice. You will need to log on using your exam ticket at about 3:30 on Monday, May 11.  You will need to log into a demo exam to check and see if your device is compatible.  The exam will start at 4:00 p.m. and will ultimately be over by 4:50. I have posted a video to tell you all "Hoorah" and best wishes on the exam. I do not have any assignments for you this week.  But I hope you take the time to turn in some things and include your reply to the Flipgrid video .  I would like to see your face and hear your voice. This was supposed to be your last week as a senior in school, and I truly miss this annual ritual.  It should have been a once in a lifetime ritual for you.  Let me know if there is anything I can do...

Social Studies Fair Information

This is information about the Social Studies Fair: Wednesday, January 30 from 4:00 - 6:30. Set up starts in the Taylor County Middle School library at 3:30. Please bring your presentation board and abstract with you. Mr. Zukowski will not be at school on Tuesday, but you can message him on Tuesday if you have questions.   If you need transportation to the school, let Mr. Zukowski know. There is a snow day or Ice Pack day, further instructions will come. If you are not able to attend due to practice/game/competition or work, let Mr. Zukowski know in class on Monday.
